Character: It is a colorless prismatic or needle-shaped crystal with no odor. It has a cool, salty, and bitter taste. The relative density is 2.65. It remains stable in damp air below 48 degrees Celsius but easily effloresces in warm and hot air. The product is highly soluble in water (119.8 g/100 mL at 20°C) and glycerine, and slightly soluble in ethanol. The aqueous solution is neutral.
