Character: Colorless or white crystalline powder, odorless. Effloresces in air. Acid hydrometer is 1.957 (25/4) to litmus. Melting point is 100°C. Soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in ethanol. Light toxicity, loses crystal water at 280°C.
