Xanthan Gum

Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide secreted by the bacterium Xanthanomonas campestris. It is commonly used as a food additive and rheology modifier, serving as a food thickening agent in products like salad dressings and as a stabilizer in cosmetic items to prevent ingredient separation.

In the oil industry, xanthan gum is utilized to thicken drilling mud, aiding in the transportation of solids cut during drilling back to the surface. In cosmetics, it is used to create water gels in combination with bentonite clays and in oil-in-water emulsions to stabilize oil droplets and provide skin hydration.
